The drug
trial of embattled Jamaican dancehall entertainer Vybz Kartel was this
morning adjourned in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.
The Deejay appeared in court today in a blue pinstripe suit, white
shirt, with a pair of black Bank Robber Clarks. One noticeable
difference was his hair cut. Kartel had come under fire last year when
he started wearing hair extensions.
When the matter was called up, the court was informed that witnesses
were not available. The trial was then rescheduled for April 13. Kartel,
whose real name is Adidja Palmer, is facing a charge of illegal
possession of marijuana. Kartel has been offered $40,000 bail which he
cannot take up because of other criminal charges against him. The police
said they held Kartel and others in a hotel room in New Kingston last
September. A quantity of marijuana was also reportedly found in the
room.
